Class Visits to the Library
We welcome onsite and virtual visits by classes of students from middle school through college, as well as other community or professional groups who are interested in learning more about Minnesota history research through our collections.
Group visits and virtual orientations to the Gale Family Library are free of charge. However, these visits are separate from the paid museum field trip experiences. If you are interested in visiting the History Center museum, please visit the field trips page to make arrangements for group admission.
Setting up a visit
We are currently in the process of updating our standard Group Visit offerings. However, we are still welcoming groups while we are working on this process.
To begin the planning for your group, please email us at reference@mnhs.org as far in advance as possible (at least 3 weeks in advance) with the following information:
- School/group name
- Onsite visit or virtual class?
- Description of the group
- Estimated number of students/visitors
- Proposed date of visit/class (Note:most group visits are scheduled on Wednesdays.)
- What are the goals for your visit?
